It looks like not only is Superman coming to Supergirl this season on the The CW, but he’s bringing one go his most iconic villains…

EW have reported that actor Frederick Schmidt will be appearing as Metallo in the show and his appearance may not be a one off:

“When international assassin John Corben is badly injured after taking on both Supergirl and Superman, he is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered supervillain Metallo.”

Metallo, is a long-standing Superman villain and, depending on which version of the character you’re reading, he’s a part man, part machine villain with a Kryptonite heart.

We’re loving that Superman and his rogues gallery now exist in The CW, we’re just excited to see if Flash’s take on the Flashpoint story will see Supergirl existing on Earth One with Arrow, Legends, Flash and all the others. Please make this happen!

Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO, protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as the title character alongside Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Supergirl season two is also adding recurring roles for Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer, Lynda Carter as the President of the United States, and Tyler Hoechlin as Superman.

Supergirl airs at 8/7c p.m. Mondays on The CW.

In related news, The CW have released a new poster for the show…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
