Neil Patrick Harris joins Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary event… but as who? UPDATE: New look at his character

Earlier tonight I reported that the Eight Doctor, Paul McGann, believed that all the surviving actors who have played that character would be back for the show’s 60th Anniversary episode next year (here) and now we know who the villain will be.

Sort of.

Starship Troopers and A Series of Unfortunate Events star Neil Patrick Harris has joined the 60th Anniversary special… but as who?

On the star joining the cast, returning showrunner Russell T Davies had this to say: “It’s my huge honour to open our studio doors for the mighty Neil Patrick Harris… but who, why, what is he playing? You’ll just have to wait. But I promise you, the stuff we’re shooting now is off the scale. Doctor beware!”

But who is he? The Master? The Valeyard? The Celestial Toymaker? Hard to know at this stage, but I look forward to seeing who he is and just how evil he’s going to be…
