Netflix is set to feature its upcoming Ghostbusters animated series at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, taking place from June 8–14, 2025, in Annecy, France, writes our good friend Jason over at Ghostbusters News.
The series will be featured during Netflix’s Animated Series Studio Focus session on June 12, alongside other anticipated titles like Dr. Seuss’ Horton!, Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, Magic: The Gathering, Minecraft, and Haunted Hotel. This session will be led by Netflix Animation executives John Derderian (Vice President, Animation Series), Heather Tilert (Director, Kids + Preschool), Billy Wee (Director, Adult Comedy), Dylan Thomas (Director, Adult Spectacle), and Dominique Bazay (Director, Family Spectacle).
Flying Bark Productions signs on for Ghostbusters animated series
Before fans get excited about a public reveal of Ghostbusters, it’s worth noting that the Studio Focus session is part of Annecy’s industry-only programming and won’t be open to the general public. Additionally, given recent job postings for the series, it’s a fairly safe bet that we’re still a ways off from a formal first look.
Pondering: Could we get a glimpse of the series on Ghostbusters Day, June 8th? Even a glimpse at the animation style? The dates line up nicely…
Previously, Flying Bark Productions confirmed their involvement in the series, collaborating with Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix. The studio is known for its work on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Ghostbusters is being developed with Ghost Corps, Inc., with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan serving as executive producers, and Elliott Kalan attached as writer and showrunner.

In addition to the Ghostbusters series, Netflix’s Annecy slate includes the world premiere of Genndy Tartakovsky’s adult animated film Fixed, a first look at Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, and previews of other projects like In Your Dreams and Long Story Short. The festival will also feature screenings of titles such as Astérix & Obélix: The Big Fight and Devil May Cry.
