You may recall that we reported a couple of weeks ago that a new Scream series is in development – early stages – at Paramount and, unlike the previous Scream series it will be good. No, sorry, it will be set in the same continuity as the Scream movies.
The series was reportedly set to run alongside the main franchise and now Beyond the Mask (below) has reportedly found new details on the series that, while a rumour at the minute, could prove to be very interesting.
It seems that the new show, should it happen, will focus on the Prescott extended family.
The Prescotts are the focus of the Scream movies, with Neve Campbell playing Sidney Prescott wh Ghostface is constantly trying to kill and the whole story started when Sidney’s mother, Maureen, was the original victim of the first movie’s killer’s Stu and Billy.
So, having a series focus on that family might actually make sense.
But who will it be about?
Well, it seems that it is likely to be a cousin of Sidney’s who is also involved in the Scream story. Of course, the movies have all featured other members of the Prescott family but this will likely be someone we haven’t met yet in the saga.
Personally, I’m very happy to have more Scream content on the small or big screen, so I’ll be keeping my ear to the ground for this one.
Will you? Let me know your thoughts on a Scream series that co-exists in the same world as the movies.
