With NYCC 2016 just over, it looks like we might have some juicy info on the future of Agents of SHIELD which has raised its game since Gabriel Luna appeared this season as Ghost Rider.

Ok, to start with, IGN asked Luna if there’s any chance of a standalone series and the actor seemed pretty positive: “There’s been rumblings – depends on how much you love it. If you love it, we’ll make it,” the actor said. He added that if it happened he’d like to see the character grow somewhere that’s not New York as all superheroes seem to live there.

Who would you like to see him work with, character-wise? “Ghost Rider once fought [Hulk in an animated movie]… i’d love to see that!”

Interestingly, Screenrant spoke to Jeph Loeb about Agents of SHIELD about the introduction of magin into the show with the Rider and he said it’s just the beginning: “The best way that I can answer it is that strange things are to come.

“The reason why it worked for us was that if you go back to the pilot when they stated what their mission was – and what SHIELD has always been – is an organization which looks out for the weird, the unusual and the dangerous and determines whether or not those things somehow have to be dealt with. When you look at Ghost Rider that checks all three boxes. So we didn’t approach it as much as ‘Now we’re going to bring magic’ – or as we refer to it the supernatural – ‘into this world’ and also Thor did a lot of the heavy lifting because they stated very quickly that magic is just science we don’t understand.

“So I think as the season progresses on a show which is so scientifically based I think you’ll start to realize what’s going on here may not be all bippity boppity boo.”

Ok, so get ready for more weirdness, but will this have anything to do with the show expanding? We reported a while ago that we might see Punisher in Agents of SHIELD. Is that so far fetched though? Could the Netflix shows meet the Agents?

Loeb told TVGuide at NYCC 201: “It’s a fair question. And the fair answer is… Stay tuned.

“I get in trouble every single time I say this, which is #ItsAllConnected. But trust me when I say #ItsAllConnected and that’s about all I can say on it at this time.”

The possibilities are endless… and with talk earlier that FOX and Marvel may be patching things up (here), the MCU may finally achieve world domination soon.
