Well, it looks like it’s finally official… Tom Welling IS returning as Clark Kent for The CW’s Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earth crossover event.
Deadline is reporting that Welling will be the third Superman in the event, joining Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh… which is interesting as we already learned there’s going to be various versions of Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen/Arrow in there too.
And, speaking of Amell, he had this to say on Twitter:
There’d be no crossover without Tom Welling. So Tom Welling is in the crossover. pic.twitter.com/9HqffyYUDh

Well, he’s not wrong. For all the brilliance of the Arrowverse’s world-building, it wouldn’t have been possible without Smallville laying the foundation (yes, I know Birds of Prey came first but it never left much of an imprint, sadly).
Producer Marc Guggenheim had this to say: “For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it.
“So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”
We couldn’t agree more… maybe we’ll finally get to see Welling put on the blue and red he earned but never got to wear.
What say you all?
