We have been confident for some time now that Star Wars star Oscar Isaac would be playing Marvel hero Moonknight in the upcoming Disney+ series but we’ve had it confirmed now and not only that, we also know who is directing and who will be playing the villain.
Canadian cinematographer Gregory Middleton broke the news on Instagram, writing: “Well the secret is out. It’s an honor to be a part of introducing a new character to the MCU #MoonKnight. Who says cinematographers worry about white costumes! … not if they are complex characters played by an amazing performer like @officialoscarrisaac. Thank you director Mohamed Diab and the #mcu for inviting me aboard.”
Let’s hope he had the nod from the powers that be to break that bit of news, huh?
Added to this, we now know that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the guys behind Spring, The Endless and Synchronic (if you’ve not seen them, you really should) have signed on to direct some of the series (with Mohamed Diab, the Egyptian helmer behind Clash)… and they’re as excited as we are:
I still can’t quite wake up from this dream I’m having, that we’re directing Oscar Isaac in a Marvel show. It’s really happening.

Finally, and almost as big as the casting of Isaac as the titular hero, we now know that Ethan Hawke will be joining the MCU as the series’ villain although no word yet on who exactly he’s playing but the smart money at the minute seems to be on Bushman, a fellow explorer with Marc Spector (Isaac) who betrayed his friend when the duo found a large amount of gold.
So far, that’s a lot of impressive talent behind the series. Marvel is unstoppable at this stage, isn’t it? Let me know your thoughts, gang.
