With everyone talking about Han Solo’s casting today (here) we almost missed another exciting bit of classic character news as Princess Leia will be in Rebels next week!
It will be a day long remembered…
Leia will appear in the January 20th episode and the show’s executive producer Dave Filoni had this to say about it:“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope.
“One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.”
We also know that this is the only time we’ll see her this season, although a future appearance is still possible. Sadly, unlikely Vader and Yoda, the character will not be voiced by the actor/actress who made them famous as Carrie Fisher will be replaced on the show by Julie Dolan.
Leia is far from being the only classic character in the series with Vader, Yoda, Lando and Obi-Wan all having appeared but it’s awesome to know she’s out there… and her likeness is great!
