Oh, Stargate, you really are the little franchise that refuses to die, aren’t you?
With the recent talk of a Stargate movie trilogy (here) and the fact that a comic series will close the story of Universe (here), we really didn’t think there’s be any new news (so to speak) for a while.
Yet, here we are.
Last night at SDCC 2017 a new series, Stargate: Origins, is starting fling next month and the lead character will be Catherine Langford who saw her father unearth the original Stargate in Giza in 1928 as recounted in the original movie.
As told then, she hired Daniel Jackson to translate the writing on the gate, which is where the whole adventure really began.
Or, it seems, so we thought.
This has cost some confusion as in the original story Catherine was much older when she first went through the gate, however it is expected this series will feature her as a young woman, with MCM stating the series will follow her as she “embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.”
Origins will be a ten-episode event series, written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry and directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan. This will be part of the online Stargate home Stargate Command and will be part of a subscription service.
Expect to hear more casting news and plans for Stargate Command soon…
