Holy crap… ANOTHER DC live-action series has been announced at SDCC.
Geoff Johns, at the DC Panel, revealed the art above, with the news that a live-action Stargirl series is set to join DC Universe’s (the new subscription service) live-action slate of Titans, Swampthing, Metropolis and Doom Patrol and honestly, we’re starting to wonder where we’re going to get the hours to watch all these shows!
Johns will write and exec produce the 13-episode series via his Mad Ghost Productions banner. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television and Greg Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Productions, with Sarah Schechter also serving as an exec producer. The series will bow in 2019.
Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series.
On the announcement, Johns had this to say: “It’s so personal for me, and to create and run my show … this is the kind of opportunity that I couldn’t have had if I had stayed in that role.
“This is based on my sister. The character is fun and optimistic. It’s about bringing back the legacy of the Justice Society,”
He also said the show would be “PG-13 show.”
The show is being overseen by Arrowverse’s Grg Berlanti so, depending on your opinion on those shows, this is great news or awful.
No word on cast or anything so far but as it it announced, we’ll let you know.
Thoughts?
