SDCC 2018 – WATCH: Holy crap! Star Wars: The Clone Wars is back! And there’s a trailer!

July 20th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Come on! It’s only Thursday! San Deigo Comic Con hasn’t even started yet!

So, tonight, at SDCC – which starts for real tomorrow – we got the news that Disney/Lucasfilm are bringing back Clone Wars!

Oh, yes, four years after we were left wondering what would become of Madalore, Darth Maul, Ashoka (yeah, we know we found out a lot in other stories) Showrunner Dave Filoni tonight told the world the the hashtag to follow was #CloneWarsSaved.

We’re delighted. As much as we liked Rebels, Clone Wars was Star Wars’ greatest moment on the small screen and we can see this as a great way to start linking the anthology movies to the core story… cough Maul cough.

There’s 12 episodes coming. We wouldn’t rule out more if it’s well received. Oh, and all the cast are back!

Is Disney/Lucafilm manipulating us after all the backlash over The Last Jedi? Yeah, probably, but honestly, we’re ok with it.

Check out the trailer below and the awesome poster above. Who do you see in that image? Answers on a postcard…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
