Sesame Street’s Elmo and Abby Cadabby have now got a new friend. Sesame Workshop has recently introduced Julia, their first autistic character as part of their “Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children” initiative.

The goal is naturally to reduce the stigma around autism and make people more aware and accepting of it. People all over the world are being bullied due to autism, and this will hopefully reduce those numbers down.

This initiative isn’t just for kids but parents too. Its aim is to help everyone establish how to successfully interact with those on the spectrum and how to speak to others about it.

I personally think this to be a splendid idea. Teaching children at an early age is always beneficial when they eventually get older. This initiative could change so many people’s lives and that’s always a good thing.
