STAR WARS CELEBRATION: Star Wars heads to preschool with new animated series Young Jedi Adventures

May 28th, 2022 by Marc Comments

It’s been revealed at Star Wars Celebration that we’re getting a first for the franchise… an animated series aimed squarely at preschoolers [though we fully expect to watch it too] as we have Young Jedi Adventures coming to our screens in the near future.

The series, like the comics, novels, audio adventures and the upcoming live-action series, The Acolyte, will be set during the era of The High Republic.

Here’s what we know so far:

The first full-length animated Star Wars series created for preschoolers, early grade schoolers, and their families, these original stories will follow Younglings as they are swept off into adventures, and start their journeys on the path to becoming Jedi Knights, learning valuable skills for our galaxy and the galaxy far, far away. The Jedi-in-training will tackle topics of compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship.

The new series will be part of the era known as the High Republic, set centuries before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and currently being explored in the New York Times bestselling series of books and comics for all ages, Star Wars: The High Republic.

It sound like it will be, while aimed squarely at the little ones, be set in the main Star Wars universe so, for the true completists, will likely form a small part of the overall narrative.

What do you think? Is this indoctrination from a young age? Or innocent fun? Let us know, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
