The Good Place and Squid Game stars join Star Wars: The Acolyte series

September 15th, 2022 by Marc Comments

While there’s not too much known about the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte – will Darth Plagueis appear?! – it’s certainly putting together a very interesting cast…

The series will star After Yang star Jodie Turner-Smith as the titular Acolyte, a follower of a Sith Lord in a story which will be set in or around the same period as the current High Republic stories that are ongoing in novels, audiobooks and comics.

It will also star Bodies Bodies Bodies star Amandla Sternberg and, perhaps most interesting of all, the cast is being rounded out by Squid Game star Lee Jung-Jae and The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto.

The series is coming from Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland who recently revealed it is set 100 years before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, saying: “My question when watching The Phantom Menace was always like, ‘Well, how did things get to this point?’ How did we get to a point where a Sith lord can infiltrate the Senate and none of the Jedi pick up on it? Like, what went wrong? What are the scenarios that led us to this moment?”

There’s a lot of potential greatness in this series and the cast is certainly exciting and interesting and, while many hated it, I liked Russian Doll (though I’ve not seen season 2 yet), so I’m optimistic about this show, especially as a big, big fan of The Good Place and Squid Game, I’m excited to see these guys on the screen again – being in Star Wars is just a bonus.

Thoughts?
