Want more proof that The X-Files mini-series is doing it right? Well, first the sweet…

Well, how about this, Langly (Dean Haglund), Frohike (Tom Braidwood) and Byers (Bruce Harwood) AKA The Lone Gunmen, are coming back!

Yes!

The Hacktivists who helped Mulder and Scully from time to time – and had a single season spinoff series – are coming back to help the duo solve more spooky goings on.

Actor Dean Haglund confirmed today that the trio are coming back, 13 years after they were last seen: “Today they contacted us. We’re shooting July 28th. The Gunmen are in the final six!”

The trio were of course thought dead, but the official X-Files Season Ten from IDW comics already established that they were alive and well.

It seems that, just to bump up the nerdy expectation, Six Feet Under’s Lauren Ambrose and The Flash’s Robbie Amell will guest star in episode four as FBI Agents Einstein and Miller.

In other cool news, X-Files super fan, Silicon Valley’s Kumail Nanjiani, host of The X-Files Podcast, has revealed that he will star in Episode three, written and directed by Darin Morgan, and called ‘Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster’.

Now, for the sour…

Actor Robert Patrick has confirmed that Agent Doggett will not be coming back for the new series, sadly.

Doggett and Reyes (Annabeth Gish) took over (mostly) the series for the final two seasons back in 2000. Though there’s no word on Gish, at the minute it’s unlikely she’ll appear.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
