The Peacemaker series just confirmed that Bat Mite exists in the DCEU!

In case you are unaware, The Peacemaker series starring John Cena from James Gunn has dropped the first three episodes on HBO Max and it’s actually a lot of fun and is having fun with the DC universe.

But, among all the talk in the show about the likes of Batman and Aquaman, one other character got a mention and it looks like the DCEU has had on of DC’s strangest characters made canon.

In the clip below – NSFW by the way – you’ll hear Cena’s Peacemaker getting patched up by Steve Agee’s John Economos when Economos drops some knowledge about the weirder corner of the DCEU including Weasel from Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and then he name drops Bat Mite, describing him as “a two foot tale interdimensional imp who stans Batman“.

When Peacemaker asks if he’s a real guy, Economos  replies” “Yep.”

This is a pretty deep cut for the DCEU.

According to early reports, Gunn wanted to include Bat Mite in his script for The Suicide Squad but ultimately ended up dropping him.

Wikipedia describes Bat Mite as “an imp similar to the Superman villain Mister Mxyzptlk. Depicted as a small, childlike man in an ill-fitting Batman costume, Bat-Mite possesses what appear to be near-infinite magical powers, but he actually uses highly advanced technology from the Fifth dimension that cannot be understood by humans’ limited three-dimensional views.

“Unlike Mxyzptlk, Bat-Mite idolises his superhero target and thus he has visited Batman on various occasions, often setting up strange and ridiculous events so that he could see his hero in action. Bat-Mite is more of a nuisance than a supervillain, and often departs of his own accord upon realizing that he has angered his idol.”

The interesting thing is that, at least until The Flash, this show is set in the DCEU where Ben Affleck is Batman… so that means that Affleck’s Batman has a Bat Mite and I have to  say, it wouldn’t surprise me if we actually saw him in the Peacemaker show at some stage.
