Jon Bernthal’s role as The Punisher could be taken to the next level as a spin-off series for the character is reportedly in development at Netflix.

TVLine (via Squareeyed) are reporting that Bernthal’s interpretation of the iconic Marvel character has been so unanimously praised by those that have seen, it has led executives to greenlight a solo project that would spin directly out of his appearances in Daredevil.

This would signal yet another Marvel/Netflix collaboration, after their success with Daredevil and, more recently, Jessica Jones: “[Jon Bernthal’s] Punisher is extraordinarily memorable, in every way,” Marvel TV Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb told ComicBook.

A Luke Cage series is currently filming, while Netflix are also planning to expand their Marvel Television Universe with Iron Fist and a Defenders mini-series, bringing together Daredevil, Jessica Jones with Cage and Fist.

Jon Bernthal will debut as The Punisher alongside Elodie Yung as Elektra on Daredevil season 2, hitting Netflix March 18, 2015.
