WATCH: Kingpin dominates in trailer for Marvel’s Echo

The trailer for Marvel’s Echo has hit and, honestly, it looks much better than I ever expected.

Based on the character Maya Lopez AKA Echo, played by Alaqua Fox, who was introduced in the Hawkeye series, it follows the adopted daughter of Kingpin, played once again by the awesome Vincent D’Onofrio, who is deaf but has an amazing ability – in the comics – to mimick an adversary’s abilities and moves.

However, it seems that, in the series, she will no longer have those exact abilities, according to director Sydney Freeland: “Her power in the comic books is that she can copy anything, any movement, any whatever. It’s kind of lame. I will say, that is not her power.”

Word is that, in the show, Maya’s abilities will come from the Choctaw women that came before her, with her getting abilities from each of her ancestor which will become available to her when she’s in trouble.

It’s worth noting that Echo is also the first of the official MCU content to get a Mature rating, meaning it might be closer to the tone and feel of the Netflix Marvel shows than we had thought. Oh, and yes, we’re hearing that Daredevil will be in here too.

No bad deed goes unpunished. All episodes of Marvel Studios’ #Echo, a new Original series, streaming January 10 on Disney+
and Hulu.

The show stars Alaqua Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Chaske Spencer, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, and Cody Lightning.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram
