The Orville is back this Christmas! Yes! And we have an all-new look at it below.
Season One of Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi drama got us in a big way in season one, so we’re excited as heck for season 2.
Creator and star Seth MacFarlane has really been bigging up the second season of the so-Star -Trek-it’s-better-than-Star-Trek series: “Every episode feels like a movie, and I think you’re going to dig it,” he said during the summer (here)
“Comedy and sci-fi when you blend them together, they don’t always mix well. In features they do, but television is kind of hard to sustain. The pleasant surprise for me was that fans and viewers were willing to let us tell a story. They weren’t waiting for the next joke to come,” he said.
“Honestly, the thing that originally attracted me to The Orville was the humour… we already have a Star Trek, I wanted a Galaxy Quest sort of experience and I was surprised to find the show wasn’t always that: “Initially, I think the show was a little misrepresented,” MacFarlane said.
“It was marketed as a comedy… I’m not sure why. Maybe there was a worry this was so new and weird and different it wouldn’t land.”
“The show was always intended to be what it is now,” MacFarlane said.
Happy Christmas! The Orville returns on December 30th and we can’t wait!
