WATCH: New trailer for Doctor Who Series One arrives along with episode titles and writers

April 1st, 2024 by Marc Comments

Over the Easter break, the BBC gave us a new trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who Season One as well as a breakdown of the episodes and who will be writing/directing.

The new series starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor and Millie Gibson as his new companion Ruby Sunday kicks off on May 11th here in the UK and picks up where the Christmas episode left off on December 25th.

After a bumpy start with the show’s three-part 60th Anniversary event in November last year, we said goodbye to Davidn Tennant as the Doctor (again) and hello to Gatwa’s new Regeneration as the fifth Doctor and, credit where it’s due, the Christmas Day episode was fun and Gatwa’s energy in the role was infectious while being very different, so we here at FTN HQ are quietly excited for what’s to come next month.

Doctor Who spinoff set for filming, David Tennant’s future on the show and Helena Bonham Carter role?

Doctor Who: Season One – Episode Titles:

SPACE BABIES: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Julie Anne Robinson
THE DEVIL’S CHORD: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Ben Chessell
BOOM: Written by Steven Moffat, directed by Julie Anne Robinson
73 YARDS: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Dylan Holmes Williams
DOT AND BUBBLE: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Dylan Holmes Williams
ROGUE: Written by Kate Herron and Briony Redman, directed by Ben Chessell
THE LEGEND OF RUBY SUNDAY: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Jamie Donoughue
EMPIRE OF DEATH: Written by Russell T Davies, directed by Jamie Donoughue

The lineup sees showrunner Russell T Davies doing a lot of the writing but it’s also very exciting to have Steven Moffat back writing – if we can get an episode next season on par with his episodes Blink or The Girl in the Fireplace, we’ll not be complaining at all.

Paul McGann set for return to TARDIS in new Doctor Who series?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
