We all know that Doctor Who will be returning this November to celebrate its 60th Anniversary in a big, big way with David Tennant returning to the role that cemented him as a star and truly rang in the show’s return after Christopher Eccleston’s single series in 2005 (here).
But we also know that the next Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa (above) will be making his debut following Tennant’s three-part return and while we have been fairly confident it would be a Christmas episode, it seems we now have our confirmation.
Get ready for the Whoniverse
On the Graham Norton Show at the weekend, returning Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies was talking about the classic sci-fi series’ return, and in their chat, he said that Gatwa would be stepping into the TARDIS at Christmas… so it seems to confirm that Davies wants to return to the festive special on Christmas Day (which we suspected) after the show’s last few years playing on New Year’s Day and that, much like Tennant’s first episode, The Christmas Invasion, in 2005, we’ll meet our new Doctor just after Santa’s been.
Happy Days!
It’s going to be a big, triumphant year for The Doctor and we cannot wait.
