WATCH: Secret Invasion trailer looks like Marvel are getting back on track

Man, could Secret Invasion be where Marvel gets its act back together?

The series, hitting this June, focuses on Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury who returns to earth to get to the bottom of a Skrull invasion that might go to the top of our political establishments… and perhaps even our greatest heroes.

Since Avengers Endgame in 2019, the MCU has been putting out TV shows and movies reading from the fine (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Shang-Chi) to the awful (Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania) to the so bad it’s hard to believe it was released (Thor: Love and Thunder) but, like supporters of a football team that hasn’t won a game in a season, we’re hoping that something can come along and turn it all around… and Secret Invasion looks like it just might just be the ticket.

Looking like a proper spy story that scratches the dark underbelly of the MCU, Secret Invasion looks like a sequel to my favourite Marvel movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I finally find myself looking forward to a new Marvel project.

I hope it’s the first of many.

Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion” stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in “Captain Marvel.” The crossover event series showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Executive Producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Jonathan Schwartz, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet, and Brian Tucker.

Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Charlayne Woodard, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle

The series premieres on June 21 on Disney+

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
