What.
Is.
Happening?
So, fans of The Boys will know that in season 2, The Seven, a group of not so heroic heroes led by Homelander, played by Anthony Star, were making a movie of their ‘true’ in universe story, called Dawn of the Seven, right?
And, those fans will also know that The Boys season 3 hits Amazon Prime on June 3rd, right?
Well, here’s a trailer for Dawn of the Seven, the movie – all will become a little clearer after you watch:
So, according to the trailer, the movie Dawn of the Seven finally hits cinemas on June 3rd. Now, we’re 99.9% sure this is not actually a real movie – as this is the release date of season 3 – but damn, the publicity is so very good on The Boys’ social media, that we’re doubting ourselves. A little.
The movie, from Vought International, the massive company that the heroes work for in the series, is also getting the Bourke Cut, as in #ReleaseTheBourkeCut. This implies that, just like Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the movie’s director had his vision compromised and it’s only now that we’re going to see what he really intended.
And as if that’s not enough, here’s Adam Bourke – actor PJ Byrne in the series – thanking the fans himself for all their support in getting the Dawn of the Seven movie made! We’re still not sure if there’s actually a movie, but we doubt it.
You called, you put up billboards, you tweeted non-stop demanding we release DAWN OF THE SEVEN. Now, a thank you from director Adam Bourke himself! pic.twitter.com/tVwAtt83qY

But, if you think that’s mad, how about this? Zack Snyder himself, the man behind Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the movie that spawned all this, came on Twitter himself to congratulate Bourke on having his vision realised! Talk about art imitating life:
Congratulations to Director Bourke. Excited to see your vision realized. https://t.co/iPB3SFRqpa

The thing is, in The Boys season 2 when the characters are filming Dawn of the Seven, Homelander addresses the ‘Joss’ rewrites, which is clearly a nod to Joss Whedon’s changing of Synder’s original movie and, basically, this is getting so meta, I think my head is going to explode!
Ok, we know this is all just marketing and articles like this are falling right into its trap but, dammit, when it’s this good, we just feel you need to know and not only that but now we want a Dawn of the Seven movie, dammit!
HBO Max officially releasing Justice League: The Snyder Cut!
Actually, I wouldn’t rule out maybe an animated movie somewhere down the line… just a thought.
Oh, and before we go, a while back we reported on Dawn of the Seven posters being spotted on the set of The Boys season 3 (here) featuring Homelander and Erin Moriarty’s Starlight. Well, guess what? Yes, those posters have been released in the real world now too. I’m so very tired:
And then there’s this… we don’t have a clue what this is but we’re guessing it’s an homage to Greatest American Hero.
We also suspect that, like the movie, this is marketing having serious fun blurring the lines between fiction and reality.
