The universe of What We Do In The Shadows has officially begun expanding… and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
The first teaser has dropped for Wellington Paranormal, a new series created by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement which is a spin-off from What We Do In The Shadows.
The movie became an overnight cult classic, following vampire housemates (Clement, Waititi and Jonathan Brugh) trying to survive among the mere mortals of Wellington.
Wellington Paranormal will follow police officers Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary as they hunt out ghosts, werewolves and demonic possessions. The pair is under the watchful eye of Sergeant Maaka Pohatu, who performs in Modern Māori Quartet during the day. Cori Gonzalez-Macuer’s Nick from the original film is also set to feature in the TV show. Clement and Waititi are also expected to reprise their roles as vampires Vladislav and Viago.
The new series will consist of six 30-minute episodes. They will air on TVNZ 2 in New Zealand and begins on 11th July. Hopefully it will make its way to the UK shortly after.
If that’s not enough, FX has ordered the first season of What We Do in the Shadows, a half-hour comedy series based on the movie with the 10-episode first season set for Spring 2019.
