One of our favourite things in Legends of tomorrow is Leonard Snart AKA Captain Cold, played by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller.

He’s had a great story arc so far – remember we met his as a villain in The flash, before he became an anti-hero in Legends of Tomorrow and this week he became on out and out hero.

The character is a pure comicbook villain and, along with his other Prison Break co-star, Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, the two of them are so deliciously over the top that every time they are on screen they just raise the show as a whole.

Now, without giving away spoilers, many may have assumed that Miller’s time on the show was at an end this week but it seems there are plans afoot for him in the DC TV universe as he has signed the first deal of its kind with The CW that will see him as a series regular in The Flash AND Legends next season.

Exec producer on Arrow, Flash, Legends and Supergirl,  Greg Berlanti , said: “We always knew that he wouldn’t be a permanent member of The Waverider [but] we also knew we loved him on the show and all the shows, Flash as well.”

So they created a role for Miller within the TV Universe that would see him have ‘flexibility and recur on multiple shows simultaneously’: “What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves where there really are a cast of characters,” Berlanti said.

It also means that when Miller is filming the new series of Prison Break, he can step back from the DC shows and then return.

Berlanti added that while Miller’s is “the first contract not applicable to just one show, we hope to continue with other characters finding their way across all the shows.”

This holds true to what we’ve heard all along for Legends of Tomorrow, in that it will be a revolving door that will see characters changing regularly on the adventures: “Every year for this show people should expect a new adventure,” said Berlanti, “There will be new teammates, a new big bad. Mixing and matching things is part of the fun of the show.”
