We’ve been contemplating a crossover between the Arrow-verse and Smallville for quite a while now, with rumours of Superman himself, Tom Welling appearing as Earth 2’s Man of Steel.

Well now it seems there are links already being created! which is so great!

In the new clip from next week’s episode, a name is dropped into the conversation. The name is Dr Curtis Cox.

Cox was played by Dean Cain (Superman in Lois and Clark and Supergirl’s earth dad in Supergirl) in Smallville.

So?

Well, Cox was an immortal who was harvesting other immortals’ body parts and was originally meant to be Vandal Savage.

Savage is the main villain in Legends of Tomorrow. Cox’s name has since become recognised as an alias of Savage’s.

How cool is that?!

In Smallville, Knox targeted metahumans with high concentrations of kryptonite in their system, which he would then transplant into his wife’s body. He killed Sasha Woodman and targeted Chloe Sullivan, before coming across Clark and Martian Manhunter. The prevailing theory is that J’Onn exiled Knox to the Phantom Zone; he admitted that he couldn’t kill him since Knox was immortal.

This is especially interesting as Martian Manhunter is a character in Supergirl, which crosses into the Arrow-verse later this month as well as see him meeting Dean Cain’s character Jeremiah Danvers in a flashback in this week’s episode.

It’s a tentative link but we’ll take it!

Well played, DC, well played.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
