The Doctor has had many companions join him on his adventures through the years, with some even making an appearance in the revived series such as Sarah Jane Smith.
But what if an older companion was to bump into him again? In fact what if the original companion were to meet her Grandfather again??
According to Carol Ann Ford, Peter Capladi is keen on a family reunion and wants to see the 12th Doctor meet his granddaughter, Susan Foreman! The character was introduced in the very first episode as a student at Coal Hill School back in 1963, before leaving the following year to be with the man she loved.
Talking to Doctor Who Magazine, Ford said: “…they invited us to the studios in Cardiff [during the filming of ‘Last Christmas’]. It was great. It was lovely to meet Peter [Capaldi]. A lovely man. I had seen some of the performances he’d done as Doctor Who and I didn’t like the way they wrote him at the beginning. I thought, ‘What’s going on here? Give him a chance!’ They portrayed him as someone who was so prickly. He started saying, ‘Oh, you should come back!’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to come back!’ He was running around the TARDIS saying, ‘She’s got to come back! She’s got to come back!’”
Ford is certainly more than game to return to the hit sci-fi series, and I’d say theres a good chance we will see her again. After all, Galifrey is still out there and needs finding. Who better than a relative of the Doctor to help show him the way?
Doctor Who returns with it’s ninth series later in the year.
