OK, so Supergirl wrapped Season One last night…
And, as a series, it definitely got better over the course of its first year. But we’re still none the wiser about if or not it’s returning.
We heard a while ago that it was coming back (here) and even that Linda Carter – the 1970s Wonder Woman – has signed up to play a big role in the second season (here) and then we’re told it’s not officially renewed yet.
And as far as we know, it’s not.
However, now executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Ali Adlerhave talked about season 2 and it looks like it is a positive thing: “We heard very positive things, unofficially, from Les Moonves. [CBS Entertainment President] Glenn Geller and [executive vice president of current programs] Bridget Wiley — they’ve all been very, very supportive. We’re definitely talking about what Season 2 looks like.”
Les Moonves (CEO of CBS Corporation) said a while back (see first link above): “We have five new shows on this year. Of those five, I believe all five of them will be renewed, and we own four of them”. A decision needs to be made by May 18th, so there’s time yet.
As for the season finale, here’s some spoilers about what it might mean for Season 2. Em, if it happens: “Obviously it’s our big cliffhanger of the season, so I’m not fully inclined to let everyone know who shot J.R. It’s an important character, and they’ll play an important role in season 2. Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but it’ll be cool. The fans are going to be excited. It’s going to definitely shake things up for season 2.”
So, who could be in the ship? And what will it mean for next season. Did you like the first year of Supergirl? Let us know…
