Well, we finally have a new, full trailer for Disney’s Aladdin live-action remake and, well, it’s better than the first teaser and look at Will Smith as the Genie.
However, as has become the norm for the Disney live-action updates it seems to be just a complete retelling of the animated feature, bringing nothing new to the table.
Which is why we’re looking forward to the Maleficent sequel so much.
Check out the new trailer (below) and poster (above) which has borrowed a lot from The Force Awakens poster… see what we mean?
Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie, and stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Jasmine’s handmaiden, Billy Magnussen as a potential suitor for the Princess, and Numan Acar as Jafar’s right-hand man.
The movie will feature new songs by Alan Menken and La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Menken originally collaborated with Howard Ashman and Tim Rice for the music in the 1992 animated version).
The film opens in theaters on May 24, 2019.
