Does The Flash director’s tease of a new suit hint at a major DC villain’s appearance?

September 20th, 2021 by Marc Comments

The Flash director Andy Muschietti has just dropped another hero suit tease from the upcoming DCEU movie that has fans scratching their heads and jumping to all sorts of conclusions.

The director has previously dropped teases of the new suits from The Flash, including Ezra Miller’s Flash, Micheal Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl (all below) but tonight he dropped a new image that features what appears to be Keaton’s Batman suit spray-painted red with the Flash logo sprayed on top of the Bat symbol:

What does this all mean!?

Who knows?

It could mean a few things… some fans are speculating that when Barry Allen AKA Flash makes the first jump through the Speedforce, bringing to Keatons’ Batman’s world, his suit may be destroyed, resulting in him needing the new suit we saw teased already (below), but in the meantime, it may force him to re-purpose one of Batman’s suits, hence the paint job – think of Miles Morales’ painting Peter Parker’s suit in Into the Spider-verse.

Another theory is that it may be hinting at another major villain: Red Death.

The DC Wiki describes Red Death, left, as: An evil fusion of Batman and the Flash. Red Death represents Batman’s fear of losing members of the Bat-family, his love for them and his regret for those he failed. His dialogue and his Speed Force Infection imply he might also represent Batman’s fear of old age slowing him down.

Now, given that we know that this movie will feature Keaton’s aging Batman – a Batman who is likely to have lost members of his Bat-family in the past and a Batman who is also growing old, it’s not a totally crazy idea to believe that this Batman, on meeting Flash, may create Red Death… knowing that other world exist with younger versions of himself, where he is still fighting crime in his prime and where his family is still alive, perhaps leads him to creating this nightmarish vision.

Is this what’s going to happen? Hard to know… but this suit implies something.

Or, it’s just a cool nod to Batman and Flash meeting in this movie.

But I’m betting it’s something bigger and I can’t wait to see what that is exactly.

I want to hear what you all think, guys.

The movie will explore the Multiverse of the DC Universe and will also see characters from throughout the DC universe appear, including another Batman in the form of Ben Affleck returning once more with Ezra Miller returning as the Scarlett Speedster.

The Flash is set for release on November 4th, 2022.
