Get ready for the new daily show

Jerry Bruckheimer says National Treasure 3 script almost done and it’ll be sent to Nicholas Cage for approval soon

While we know Disney+ are giving us a National Treasure series that is separate from the Nicholas Cage movies – you can watch the trailer for it below – it seems that there’s still a chance we’ll get the third movie, containing the series the way we actually wanted.

Fifteen years later, in a new interview, producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed a National Treasure 3 script is being written and will be given to Cage to see if he wants to go ahead: “We’re working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it’s really good. So I think we’ll get it to him shortly.”

Earlier this year, Cage was asked if he thought a third movie was coming but his response was pretty negative, based on the franchise being a series of new characters:  “No, the priority was to turn it into a TV show so I would say probably not.” Now here we are just four months later and things appear to have changed.

Cage, speaking to GQ recently, said that his run of badly performing movies meant that the third movie hit the rails: “The phone stopped ringing,” he said.

“It was like,’What do you mean we’re not doing National Treasure 3? It’s been 14 years, why not. Well, Sorcerer’s Apprentice didn’t work, and Ghost Rider didn’t really sell tickets. And Drive Angry just came and went…”

While the series stars Harvey Keitel reprising the role of Sadusky from the movies as well as Justin Bartha as Riley Poole, the creators have hinted they want Cage to appear at some stage too, saying they would ‘beg’ him to do it… perhaps we’ll see him in the series, leading into the third movie at some stage in the future?

Anyways, the National Treasure Edge of History series trailer is below and it hits Disney+ on December 14th.
