Bane/Deathstroke movie gets title as DC features heavily in Warners/Skydance production schedule

October 14th, 2026 by Marc Comments

With the DCU steaming ahead and Clayface set for release next weekend, it’s not a surprise to hear that several projects in that world are still in various stages of production, including the Bane/Deathstroke villain team-up movie, which now has a title too.

As I first reported in 2024, James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU is setting its sights on a Bane and Deathstroke movie that would see the villains, Bane, a steroid-enhanced powerhouse who once broke Batman and almost ruled Gotham and Deathstroke, an assassin whose skill set matches that of the Batman himself, making him basically Batman’s dark flipside, teaming up with Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton developing the script with Gunn.

And now we can reveal that the movie’s current title is… Savage Hunters!

Tidbit:

After briefly playing Deathstroke in Justice League and being set up to be the main antagonist in Ben Affleck’s long-cancelled Batman movie, actor Joe Manganiello says that his time as Deathstroke, to the surprise of no one, is dead and gone and DCU boss James Gunn put the final nail in that coffin:  “James [Gunn] is my buddy, and James and I had a conversation about it because Jim lee over at DC Comics wanted me to create a graphic novel series based on the screenplay that I wrote for the Deathstroke origin film that, when they were dismantling the DCEU, went to the wayside as well.

“Jim read it, and wanted it to be a graphic novel series, but no one could assure me that, if it garnered the attention of directors and producers, that I couldn’t be attached. So I had to let it go. James Gunn was just like, ‘Let it go.’”

Bane and Deathstroke team-up movie in development

The reveal came as the movie was on a list of movies in various stages of development and which now fall under the gaze of Skydance Pictures Co-Chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, fresh after the purchase of Warner Bros and all the movies that studio was developing.

The list has a Barbie sequel as a priority while under ‘almost’ greenlit; we find two Zach Creggar-related projects in the shape of his upcoming sci-fi epic, The Flood, and the prequel, which he’s not directing to Weapons, Aunt Gladys.

Interestingly, we also find Drew Goddard’s fourth fifth Matrix movie in there two.

In varying stages of development, we find Tim Burton’s Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman, the long-rumoured Constantine sequel, Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest, Gremlins 3, which is apparently ‘awaiting rewrites’, The Goonies 2, a new Live-action Flintstones reboot with Ryan Gosling’s Open Invite producing and interestingly, a Get Smart reboot (I still say the Steve Carrell one is a misunderstood gem).

Clayface movie: Will we see Batman? Signs point to… maybe?

Finally, of note, we have The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past with Stephen Colbert, Philippa Boyens and Peter McGee writing and a possibly live-action Powerpuff Girls.

The whole list contains several DCU projects at various stages of development too, ranging from complete with Clayface, to in production with Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Dynamic Duo, Live-action Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, which DCU co-runner Peter Safran confirmed is still being developed with James Mangold, saying: “We’re working on it. The script is being written as we speak.” And Wonder Woman. Non-DCU we have the aforementioned Constantine and the currently in production The Batman Part II.

Here’s the full list as published by Deadline:

NYCC 2026: FIRST LOOK: Dinobots – and others – join the Energon Universe

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
