According to Forbes, Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the top-grossing actor of 2013 thanks to the total combined $1.3 billion box office haul of this year’s releases G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain and Gain, and Fast & Furious 6.
Robert Downey Jr., star of the year’s biggest hit Iron Man 3 and who actually took home a bigger paycheck than The Rock came in second with $1.2 billion. Steve Carell’s $964 million third place total was almost completely due to Despicable Me 2, with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone‘s portion only being $22.5 million. Vin Diesel came in fourth with $887 million, mainly due to Fast & Furious 6 as Riddick only took in 98 million. Sandra Bullock rounds out the top five with two big hits this year in two different genres: Gravity was a tense thriller that will likely earn her another Oscar nomination and made $632 million, while The Heat was a buddy cop comedy that took in $230 million.
With Fast & Furious 7 slated to hit theaters next summer and Hercules, Johnson should have another huge year in 2014.
