Ever wonder just how spooky Mulder could be as a teenager?
The upcoming two young adult novels in the X-Files Origins series will explore the histories of 15-year-old Dana Scully and 17-year-old Fox Mulder. Agent of Chaos and Devil’s Advocate will be set in the spring of 1979, “when serial murder, the occult, and government conspiracy were highlighted in the news“.
Agent of Chaos, following the young Mulder, will be written by New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia, author of the Legion series of young adult novels. Devil’s advocate, the tale of teenage Scully, is being penned by Jonathan Maberry, a writer for Marvel Comics and bestselling horror and thriller author. Both are to be published by Imprint/Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group.
So, what do you think? Is it a good idea to find out more about the backstories of characters we’ve known and loved for more than twenty years (Odin’s Raven I feel old just typing that), or should we just leave this level of backstory to the individual viewer’s headcanon? Let us know your thoughts.
The X-Files Origins novels are set for publication in January 2017.
