We reported back in January that ex-Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies had recently recovered a script he wrote for Doctor Who long before he was handed the reigns of the series back in 2005 (here).
It was further revealed that the script was being adapted by Big Finish, the people doing all the best Doctor Who stuff right now, with their ever-expending world of audio adventures.
I had assumed, being familiar with Davies work on ‘New Who’ that the series would feature either Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant in the titular role, but now we finally have some cool details as the adventure is up for pre-order now on the Big Finish website.
The adventure will star the sixth Doctor, Colin Baker and his companion Mel, played by Bonnie Langford – this makes sense given that it was written during Baker’s era, with Davies saying at the time: “It is a Doctor Who script that I wrote in 1985 on an electric typewriter in a bedsit in Cardiff.”
This would have been the show’s 22 season with Baker controlling the TARDIS.
We also now know that the adventure will be part of The Lost Stories series and will be called Doctor Who: Mind of the Hodiac.
As of now we don’t yet know when this will be made available, but I have my pre-order in already.
What say you all? Are you excited to see Russell T Davies handle a new (old) Doctor Who story featuring the sixth Doctor and Mel? I know I am….
