All this week, schools have been opening and welcoming back children, old and new, into a new school year. Well, JK Rowling says that it’s also a time for Wizarding schools to open their doors too.

Potter fans on twitter went a little crazy when Rowling noted that on Tuesday, young James Severus Potter was starting his first day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Due to when the harry potter series is set, James S Potter was born in 2004 and is now old enough to go to school.

JK Rowlings tweets, and the hashtag #BackToHogwarts spread all over the world. The main feeling however was not elation but sadness. Comments such as “potterhead feels”, sad posts about emotions and memes or small videos and gifs of crying and sadness flooded twitter.

We at FTN would like to wish James a wonderful first year. Good luck and good bye.

And it seems we now know what Hogwarts house he now belongs to… Right in the feels.
