SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SQUADRON SUPREME #1!!!! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!!!
James Robinson and Leonard Kirk are teaming up for Marvel’s Squadron Supreme in December of 2015 and they plan to start the series off with a huge bang.
Marvel promised us that Squadron Supreme would be an unconventional superhero team-up; we finally have context as to what that means exactly. In the first issue of the new series it’s been announced that Marvel will be killing off one of its longest running characters…Namor.
In an interview with comicbook.com Robinson revealed his reasoning behind killing off the classic anti-hero, “It is bittersweet, but I think that people have to pay for what they do. I think that as you’ll see in ‘Squadron,’ Namor’s death will open up a lot of amazing story opportunities which will evolve in the future.”
Although Marvel released an Alex Ross cover of Hyperion holding Namor’s decapitated head for Squadron Supreme #2, it wasn’t officially announced to the public until today.
Big thanks to comicbook.com for the scoop!
