COMIC REVIEW: FTN reviews All New X-Men #15

August 13th, 2013 by Rainbow Red Panda Comments

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis

Artist: David Lafuente

Colorist: Jim Campbell

Published by: Marvel

I have been a fan of All New X-men since the first issue. It is one of, if not my favorite, Brian Michael Bendis title out right now. However in issue #15 something bad hit me as soon as I saw the first panel… THE ARTIST CHANGED!!!!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that David Lafuente is a bad artist, because that is not the case. I like this style of art…but not for the X-Men! Maybe for an X-Men children’s comic it would fit, but for a dramatic title like this, it is laughable.

The story is fairly well written. The Beast has more of a role than he has since the beginning issues, which I liked, however nothing really important happens. I kind of think of this issue as a filler issue until they get their next big dramatic climax. All in all as much as I hate to say this, because I normally love this title, but this issue I think could be easily skipped by readers and not much would be missed. Anything that would be viewed as important will be highlighted in the beginning of the next issue so you can easily save yourself $3.99 and buy the new Deadpool kills Deadpool instead.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this title in its next issue. Much like I missed Humberto Ramos when he took a break from Superior Spider-Man, I’m hoping (and I mean really HOPING) that the original art team comes back, or they at least find a new team whose style better suits this type of comic. If not I may not be able to read much more.
