COMIC REVIEW: FTN reviews Nightwing #27

Writer: Kyle Higgins

Artists: Will Conrad & Cliff Richards

Published by DC Comics

The Mad Hatter’s in town, and while Nightwing has to deal with a new, unstable team-up, it seems he’s found himself a new fan in the process!

I think it’s awesome, how easy Kyle Higgins makes it look to meld Dick Grayson’s superhero life and normal life together in one average size book. It never seems like we’re focusing too much on one aspect or the other. While this storyline with Mali seems to be a bit of a side story in the grand scheme, I think it was pretty well carried out. However, I do wish there was a bit more focus on Michael and Maxwell, as I’ve been interested in what they’re doing since they became partners a few issues ago. It seems we never really delved into their story at all, and now it seems as if they’re done working together. So, that’s kind of weird.

I am continuing to love Wil Conrad’s stuff, and I really love his stuff in Nightwing’s universe. I’ll admit I didn’t notice the change to Cliff Richards at first, and really liked a lot of his body language panels. But I noticed the change when I reached a page with a lot of faces, because the way Richards does faces is not my cup of tea (no pun directed to the story intended!).

It seems the story with Mali is over…for now. I kind of enjoyed the mysteriousness about her, and hope this isn’t the last we see of her before Kyle Higgins puts down the pen for the title!
