COMIC REVIEW: FTN reviews The True Life Of The Fabulous Killjoys #3

August 15th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Script: Gerard Way and Shaun Simon

Art: Becky Cloonan

Colors: Dan Jackson

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics

Look alive sunshine! #3 of the Killjoys comic is here! This is one of my favorite series of the summer, and this issue did not disappoint.

There wasn’t as much action in this issue as there has been in the other two but a lot of things were established. The Blue and Red porno bots were definitely the best part of this issue for me. Their devotion to each other even after all they have been through shows you don’t have to be Hank Pym to make awesome A.I. Bli can make robots and technology, and have no problem forcing it upon the humans left in Battery City.

Val’s story is definitely developing. He obviously has some jealously issues of Poison (aka Gerard Way), the old killjoys leader. Dying his hair to match Poison’s was a nice touch but I feel like it will end up backfiring somehow.

The artwork in this issue is AMAZING! Becky Cloonan kills it with the drawing and Dan Jackson does fantastic work with the colors. The artwork is a main attraction of this issue and I will probably stare at it until issue #4 comes out.

To me this comic has everything, and if you like My Chemical Romance you will LOVE this series. It continues where the Killjoys album of the same titles leaves off so you instantly feel at home in the pages. If you haven’t listened to the album then what are you waiting for?! Go get it then read the comics over. And then repeat.

Also this issue doesn’t end at the end of the story. BLI makes sure to leave you with some advertisements for their latest products that makes the whole comic even more amazing. This truly isn’t a comic… It’s a total experience!
