Dredd might not have set the box office alight last year but hopefully the Karl Urban action fest will go some way to attracting new fans to the long running comics icon.
Those looking to see what all the fuss is about could do a lot worse than check out the latest issue of the Megazine, the monthly title focusing on the universe of Judge Dredd.
As soon as you pick up the latest issue, on sale from Wednesday January 16, you’ll see what all the fuss is about. This isn’t just a comic book it’s a comic book for people who love comic books.
Kicking off with the standalone Dredd / Anderson tale The Pits there’s an awful lot for even the most casual fan to enjoy here. This being a 2000AD production there’s more than you first expect as good as the opening tale is, and it’s very good, it doesn’t come close to being the highlight of the issue. That award goes to Pat Mills’ American Reaper, a stunning tale set in a future dystopia – it’s a chilling story that’s all the more haunting thanks to some mesmerising art from Clint Langley and Fay Dalton.
Long time readers will also be delighted to see the return of Hondo City Justice as Inara investigates a case that harks back centuries to feudal Japan.
Throw in a fascinating interview with comics legend David Roach who has drawn Star Wars, Batman, Aliens and Judge Dredd of course, and you’ve got yourself another compelling issue.
