Mick Foley to pen new comic based on WWE

October 11th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE wrestling fan, and have been pretty much since birth. This week it was announced that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley (aka Dude Love, aka Cactus Jack, aka Mankind) would be teaming with comic publisher Super Genius to bring us a WWE comic book!! Now for those who may have doubts on a wrestler being successful at writing let me say this: Mick Foley has mad writing skills. He has written several books (both fiction and non fiction) and has been on the New York Times best selling list multiple times. If anyone can pull off a great wrestling comic it is this man!

The storyline of the comic is set to take place in Titan City and features fan favorite John Cena, who will be the classic good guy who gets framed for a crime he didn’t commit, (guess his thuganomics days are really over) and one of my personal favorites CM Punk, who will be a shadowy figure trying to bring down the system (it is unclear if it will be clobberin’ time or not though). This title has a lot of promise and I can’t really see any way Foley can fail. Just by putting two of the biggest stars of the WWE as main characters it is bound to sell fast!

Issue #1 will feature five variant covers and is set to be released in June. The five covers will feature: John Cena (drawn by Alitha Martinez), The Undertaker (drawn by Miran Kim), Triple H and Kane (drawn by Dean Haspiel), Mark Henry (drawn by Michael Golden) and my personal favorite CM Punk (drawn by Jill Thompson!).

So go to your local comic book shop and pre order it today!!
