Algrim/Kurse has ‘animalistic tendancies’ in Thor: The Dark World

February 3rd, 2013 by Marc Comments

Actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been speaking to The LA Times about his forthcoming role in Thor: The Dark World.

Playing Algrim and the character’s demonic alter-ego, Kurse, in this year’s Marvel sequel, the actor said it was like “an almalgamation of a bull and a lava-like creature”.

“He has very animalistic tendencies but with this insatiable and unstoppable power. As an actor, that’s one of the hardest things to embody,” he said.

“You have to realize you are probably the most powerful thing you could imagine. And you have to be that. You can’t pretend, so that when you face Thor, it’s real.”

Algrim first appeared in Thor #347 and was one of the most powerful of the dark elves. He is given the task of killing Thor by Malekith the Accursed (set to be played by Christopher Eccleston).

Thor: The Dark World is released on November 8.
