Despite the recent uncertainty about the sequels and spin-offs, The Amazing Spider-Man swings on. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has scheduled Sinister Six to be released on November 11, 2016, and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2018.
The move of ASM 3 from 2016 to 2018 likely means that the studio is trying to let audiences forget the critical flop and box-office disappointment that was Amazing Spider-Man 2 before the next one, set to be directed by the same director of the first two, Marc Webb.
Sinister Six, the highly anticipated villain team-up, will be written and directed by Drew Goddard. President of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group Doug Belgrad:
“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016.”
It is unclear which villains this incarnation will feature, although we were teased.
