Although Aaron Taylor-Johnson was rumored for the role since July, The Wrap is reporting that the Kick-Ass star is officially set to play Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
They add that it took so long to finalize because the Avengers sequel shooting schedule overlaps with his upcoming publicity tour for Legendary’s Godzilla reboot. That potential obstacle has been sorted out though and he closed the deal today.
Taylor-Johnson is not the only actor to be playing Quicksilver though, Evan Peters is set to play the same role in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Quicksilver’s sister, Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch, is also going to be featured in the Avengers sequel with Elizabeth Olsen still said to be the frontrunner for the role.
Taylor-Johnson joins Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015.
