Dave Filoni teases possible new Star Wars animated series

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is over (although we still have a few more story arcs that will be released) but supervising director Dave Filoni has confirmed he’s involved in developing a new animated series set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

So far we have are no specific details on what this new animated series will be, but this week Filoni put an image on his Facebook page that will lead to speculation. Along with the sketches he drew himself, Filoni wrote: “It’s hard to believe that I have worked at Lucasfilm almost eight years, and this is the first time I have ever gotten to draw a TIE fighter.”

He could have drawn a TIE fighter on his own any time he wanted, so he must mean in some sort of official capacity.

If this is the case, the mere existence of TIE Fighters would suggest that this new animated series takes place after Episode III.

Many (myself included) are guessing the series will probably take place after Return of the Jedi, bridging the gap between the original trilogy and the upcoming new trilogy and this sketch at least seems to support that. Everything that Disney seems to be doing at the moment is to aid in the efforts of Star Wars: Episode VII.
