Edgar Wright teases the plot of Ant-Man

January 6th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Ant-Man director Edgar Wright took to his blog this morning and simply posted he was doing “homework.” In the same post, he also included an image (shown above) from the animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes episode “To Steal an Ant-Man.” This particular episode is based on Marvel Premiere #47, and features future Ant-Man Scott Lang stealing original Ant-Man Hank Pym’s equipment and using it to commit crimes.

It was always Wright’s plan to involve both Hank Pym and the later Ant-Man of the comics, Scott Lang to appear in the film. This image along with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously calling Ant-Man a “heist film,” it seems likely that we might be seeing something similar taking place on the big screen.

It’s worth mentioning that when Marvel confirmed Paul Rudd was Ant-man, they made no mention of which particular Ant-Man he would be playing. Most just assumed he was Hank Pym.

Edgar Wright is directing from a script that he has co-written with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block). The film, which will launch Marvel’s Phase Three, will hit theaters on July 31st, 2015.
