Xbox Entertainment has revealed the first images from its upcoming digital series Halo: Nightfall.
Mike Colter ( The Good Wife, Zero Dark Thirty) stars in the series as Jameson Locke, a surgically-enhanced super soldier, with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) whose team is sent to investigate terrorist activity on a distant colony world and are eventually drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact during their search.
The film takes place between the events of Halo 4 and the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, in which Locke will play an integral role.
TV director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan is at the helm of the project with Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring providing the script. Ridley Scott and David Zucker are executive producing the project, which is said to be similar in scope to Machinima’s recent Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries. It’s also targeting a release before the end of 2014 and will be arriving in addition to the live-action series that Steven Spielberg is producing for Xbox One.
Halo: Nightfall will be available on Xbox Live, through the Xbox One and Xbox 360 game consoles, as well as Microsoft’s mobile devices like smartphones and the Surface tablet. the series will also be packaged with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which releases for the Xbox One on November 11th.
