Well, well, well…
You may recall a while ago there was a whole to-do that Warners/DC were developing a Joker movie that wouldn’t star Suicide Squad star Jared Leto (here)? You may also recall that, at the time, we repeatedly said we didn’t believe it was true, with many thinking DC was looking to make movies that weren’t related to each other.
Well, it seems we have have developments, as word is Leto is getting his own Joker movie. The actor is “set to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film, paving the way for future movies branching from “Suicide Squad.””
It seems that Suicide Squad is set to be the first chapter in a whole corner of the DC movie universe featuring the villains, rather than the heroes… Joker, Dwayne Johnston’s Black Adam, Deathstroke, Lex Luthor, Black Manta, it seems that we may be seeing the seeds being set for a Legion of Doom movie.
Margot Robbie, Harley Quinn to Leto’s Joker, is also getting her Birds of Prey movie which will apparently film pretty soon (follow the story here).
In fairness, we are also hearing that Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie may still be moving ahead but we reckon if Warner are wise, they’ll stick with one cinematic Joker.
We have nothing else to tell you at the moment but you can bet that when we do, you’ll be first to know it….
