LISTEN: It’s episode 59 of our podcast, “Badges? We ain’t got no badges! We don’t need no badges!

May 2nd, 2013 by Marc Comments

On this week’s show your host, Marc, is joined by the man we call Saxon, Mr Stephen McCulla and
we get into the nitty gritty of the world of Nerd.

First up we talk about Iron Man 3 – don’t worry, we keep it spoiler free – and just what we thought
of it.

From there we talk about the latest toys from Marvel Select and just why Character Options has lost
the plot when it comes to Doctor Who toys.

Next we rejoice in the fact that we were mentioned in an online article in the Wall Street Journal
before talking about last week’s episode of Doctor Who called Hide… spooky.

With the release of the third Man of Steel trailer we rejoice in the music of Hans Zimmer and talk
about why we think it’s a good thing that John Williams is left behind for Zack Snyder’s new take on
the Superman mythology.

Loki’s ultimate fate is discussed as we speculate, given what we see in the Thor: The Dark World
trailer and know of the comic history, ON what we think will ultimately be his fate in the Marvel
movie-verse.

Stuart is back from The Monday Movie Show with the UK Box Office Top Ten and we talk in length
about Oblivion and Joseph Kosinski’s previous sci-fi epic TRON: Legacy and Marc ponders on why he
thinks Kosinski should be a shoe-in for one of the upcoming Star Wars sequels.

Is Ghostbusters III still coming? We ponder the chances of it happening and wonder who would be a
great choice of cast if the movie was – shudder – remade. What do you think of our choices?

Finally, two of the biggest questions in sci-fi get addressed… why are Australian Trekkies up-in-arms
about JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness and will we really find out the name of the Doctor in two
weeks? Or is Steven Moffat up to his old tricks?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
